0215.1 ARCH+ features: Posthumane Architektur – Wie wollen wir zusammenleben? ×

On the occasion of the release of 0215 ARCH+ Posthumane Architektur, this event took place at the Arch_Tec_Lab of the Institute of Technology in Architecture (ITA) at ETH Zurich. Diana Alvarez-Marin, Michaela Friedberg, Hannes Grassegger, and Nina Zschocke discussed the role of the architect in light of technology companies that are advancing into the field of architects and planners with algorithm-driven post planning. Diana Alvarez-Marin is an architect and researcher at the Chair for Computer-Aided Architectural Design (CAAD) at ETH Zurich. She is co-author of A Quantum City—Mastering the Generic, on which her PhD research project “Atlas Of Indexical Cities: Articulating Personal City Models On Generic Infrastructural Ground” is based. Alvarez-Marin studied at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture et de Paysage de Lille and completed the master’s program for CAAD. She worked for several years at OMA in Rotterdam and group8 in Geneva and was a guest researcher at the Future Cities Laboratory in Singapore.

Michaela Friedberg is an architectural historian and designer and lives in Berlin. She completed the master’s program in architecture at Princeton University, where she focused on typologies and politics in contemporary American suburbia and the effects of new technologies on architectural form. Friedberg worked for Brandlhuber+, MOS Architects, Stan Allen Architects, and is co-founder of Rumor, an online format for architectural criticism.

Hannes Grassegger is a journalist and economist. Most recently, his investigative reports on Cambridge Analytica (with Mikael Krogerus), Facebook’s secret censorship team in Berlin (together with Till Krause and Julia Angwin) and Rwanda’s drone transport network have caused a stir. In 2014 his book Das Kapital bin ich about the market value of data and how the individual can make money from his digital profile was published.

Nina Zschocke is a research assistant at the Chair of the History of Art and Architecture at the Institute for the History and Theory of Architecture (gta) at ETH Zurich and coordinates the graduate college ProDoc Art&Science. In 2019 she edited Productive Universals-Specific Situations Critical Engagements in Art, Architecture, and Urbanism with Anne Kockelkorn. She conducts research on contemporary art and architecture and the relationship between art studies and art, and the natural sciences. Read less
