Lutz is an update of Luigi Colani's famous sink from 1972, which was featured in numerous projects such as 0113 Brunnenstrasse 9, 0131 Antivilla, and 0154 San Gimignano Lichtenberg.
Sanitary objects change their style and shape with trends. In fact, one glance into a bathroom is enough to determine from which era the design originates. This is why Colani's distinctive organic sanitary series eventually became unpopular and fell out of use, making it available on the secondary market for a modest price.
However, despite its timeless design, the series does not meet today's standards. Nowadays, sinks and toilets are significantly smaller than they were thirty years ago, reflecting efforts to conserve water and materials.
Therefore, Lutz is the inaugural prototype of a series of sanitary objects by bplus.xyz, created in collaboration with designers Anton Defant and Matthias Gschwendtner. This series pays homage to Colani's legacy while updating it to meet contemporary standards.
